The American Screenwriters Association (ASA) International Screenplay Competition, co-sponsored by Gotham Writers' Workshop, is an industry leading competition because it was designed and is maintained first and foremost with you the screenwriter in mind. Our prizes are geared towards:

American Zoetrope Screenplay Contest
Early Deadline: August 1 Guest judge Gus Van Sant will award the $5,000 Grand Prize, and the winning and top ten scripts will be considered for option and development by more than a dozen major production companies, including American Zoetrope. Those writers will also be considered for representation by ICM, UTA, Paradigm, The Gersh Agency, William Morris Independent, CAA, and The Firm. The Austin Film Festival (AFF) is dedicated to furthering the art, craft and business of writers and filmmakers and recognizing their contributions to film, television and new media. The AFF champions the work of aspiring and established writers and filmmakers by providing unique cultural events and services, enhancing public awareness and participation, and encouraging dynamic and long-lasting community partnerships.
The Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting program is an international competition open to screenwriters who have not earned more than $5,000 writing for film or television. Entry scripts must be the original work of a sole author or of exactly two collaborative authors. Entries must have been written originally in English. Adaptations and translated scripts are not eligible. Up to five $30,000 fellowships are awarded each year.
