Local High School Receives Second Emmy
The Film School of San Antonio @ Harlandale will be recognized at the 2007 Emmy Awards for its second Emmy Award in as many years. The 2007 Emmy, awarded in the Emerging Media category, is for the quirky comedy, “29.”
Located on the campus of Harlandale High School, the city-wide magnet film school is the first and only high school in Texas and the Lone Star region to win the prestigious award not just once but twice. They will receive the Emmy at the annual evening awards ceremony in Dallas, Texas on Saturday, October 27th.
Directed by Harlandale High School Senior Frank Romo, “29” is the third film nominated for an Emmy by Harlandale district and the second to win. Produced by students, the film is about a warehouse, a stranger behind a locked door and curious couple of guys.
The Film School of San Antonio @ Harlandale will be recognized for their efforts at the annual gala. They have also been invited to produce a digital film segment for the awards ceremony. Photographed in High Definition in 16:9 (letterbox) the film segment is a send up of “Kid Nation” entitled, “Kid Station.” Directed by Raul Flores with animation segment direction from Jasmine Mendoza, the film features students from Columbia Heights Elementary as actors, and projected on jumbo digital film screens, it is expected to have a grand reception at the annual ceremony.
Headed by the Director of Production, George Ozuna, it presently has over two hundred and thirty students majoring in Animation, Filmmaking, and Screenwriting.
The Film School of San Antonio @ Harlandale will again be attending the Robert Redford’s Sundance Film Festival this January in Park City, Utah and for the first time will be attending the Robert DeNiro’s Tribeca Film Festival in New York City in May.
