F.I.R.M.E. Productions and the National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP) Austin Chapter are proud to announce a one-day film festival that unites the power of film with the power of mobilized youth in forming an inspiring collaboration that will be felt throughout the United States on May 26, 2007.

Centered in Thermal and founded in the Eastern Coachella Valley (ECV) of southern California, Campeciné: El Ciné Campesino Film Festival arises from one of the largest and most historic migrant farm worker communities in the United States.  Campecine has taken the inspiration gained from the farms and solicited stories of struggle and reality from all youth so that we may reflect on the similarities and uniqueness that individual communities are facing nationwide.  Our collective vision is to raise consciousness, mobilize communities, and organize all youth to have their voices heard.  Please join us on May 26, 2007 at Copa Bar & Grill to witness the Austin launch of a film festival with a new perspective.

Cinema Texas Film Festival

Cinematexas has been called "one of the most significant and inspiring film festivals in the country" by indieWIRE. “Through a consistently high standard of adventurous, unabashedly cerebral programming, Cinematexas has earned a place as one of the most vital showcases for visionary cinema in the U.S.” – Ioannis Mookas, senses of cinema, Fall 2004. We are downright humbled and amazed by what we have created when composer Terry Riley, a true pioneer of creative expression, tells us “It is really remarkable what you are doing. I wish there were more things around the country like it.”

Fantastic Fest

September 20-27, Austin, TX
Fantastic Fest is a week-long festival featuring the best in new science-fiction, fantasy, horror, animation, crime, Asian, and all around badass cinema. The event was created to offer exposure to genre films which are often overlooked by the traditional festival circuit. We strive to offer acquisition, media and exhibition opportunities for undistributed films as well as to spotlight upcoming genre theatrical releases and give audiences a chance to see 35mm prints of repertory classics.

Polish Film Festival

The film festival is a volunteer-driven event and will be held the evenings of October 5, 12, 19, and 26th of this year. The theme of the festival is "50 Years of Polish Film from the Lodz School." We have selected films from well-known graduates of the National Film School of Poland (the "Lodz School") including narrative works by Wajda and Kieslowski (including some of their earliest works that have never been shown in America before). There will also be a screening of films from recent graduates and students at the UT School of Communications. Several graduates of the Lodz school who are now successful directors have been invited to attend and speak about their works. An exhibition of historic Polish film posters and a VIP reception is planned for pass holders and invited dignitaries from the film community in Poland and Austin.

The film festival is part of a larger goal....

South by Southwest Film Festival and Conference

SXSW's original goal was to create an event that would act as a tool for creative people and the companies they work with to develop their careers, to bring together people from a wide area to meet and share ideas. That continues to be the goal today whether it is music, film or the internet. And Austin continues to be the perfect location.
